How We Met - The FIRST Day!

This is the story of us, Ekta & Rohit! Our incredible love story began back in 2008 when we met during our Post-Grad studies at Aston University, Birmingham, UK.

How We Survived LDR

We were young & free and so much in love that we forgot we belonged to two different worlds! Rohit after completion of studies left for United States & I left for India. Thereafter we lived a long distance relationship for 8 years. Being in two different time zones & miles apart was challenging to maintain the relation but the Internet & phone calls helped us stay in touch. As they say, “True Love doesn’t mean being inseparable; it means being separated & nothing changes”

The YES Day!

In 2015, our parents met each other. After all the differences & confusion about inter-faith & moving to different country, love conquered them! And the dates were finalized.

Wedding Functions

Social Media has leveraged the urges & wishes of brides & grooms nowadays. And I am one of those brides who took special interest in every detail of the wedding planning.

Mehndi Favors!

When Rohit saw our portrait mehndi, his expressions were speechless!”

The rustic aisle arches with twigs throughout the ballroom was exactly how we imagined the setting. Walking down the aisle with my father was a beautiful experience.

When we met, we had a favorite song & we chose that for our First Dance. It took us back in time and we can’t thank God enough for giving us this day. Our friends & relatives made the evening so special by surprising us with great performances.

Wedding & Reception - The BEST Day!

Venue:- The Imperial Hotel, Delhi. Decor:- Ferns & Petals, Delhi Theme:- Peach, White & Gold  Photography - Viren Photography

Our wedding was a beautiful amalgamation of both Marwari and Sindhi rituals. The Fusion Chaat by Le Chaat Factory was an absolute show-stopper! Our mandap was decorated with white flowers & peacocks which gave it a rustic appeal. I planned a wish tree by the mandap dedicated to my deceased mother, because I wanted her to be a part of our wedding.

Rohit is a simple guy but he flipped the script for the wedding & he looked oh so dapper in customized anarkali sherwani with matching jootis from Qbik complementing & twinning the brides outfit.

The Rose quartz Lehenga from Sabyasachi was the ultimate choice for my big day & it went very well with my vilandi & rubies necklace designed by my sister Jewelry Designer Pallavi Agarwal Gupta. A big ‘nath’ from Purab Paschim added to the entire look. Makeup Artist Pooja Khurana did a swell job on me and made me look absolutely gorgeous on my wedding day. I wanted a simple yet dewy look which she incorporated very well.

I wanted a personalized contemporary-minimalistic Mangalsutra with a detachable chain so I could wear it later as a pendant and did a fabulous job. Rohit was totally smitten when he saw his initial there.

Reception continued later after nuptials. We had an intimate reception just an hour after our wedding ceremony. It was an after-party of sorts wherein I removed my veil & he removed his turban to keep it simple.

Reception in Chicago, USA

Venue - Ashyana Banquets, Illinois Photography - Roopen Patel Photography

Rohit & his family had handful of guests who couldn’t make it to India for the wedding so a reception was planned for them. It was a fun event and allowed us to celebrate with family & friends here.

Ever since the reception was planned, I hoped it would snow that night. As luck would have it, there was a snow storm! It was a magical setting! Kudos to the photographer for withstanding a snow storm to make this happen!”

“They knew it time.. distance.. nothing could separate them, because they knew it was Right & Real!”

Thats the story of him & me! The best is yet to be!
